Being a Dentist gives me the opportunity to help someone every single day! Seeing a patient change how they speak and smile, once they do not have to hide from their teeth, is very rewarding. From minor procedures that change the appearance and self-confidence of a patient to full-mouth restorations that drastically improve health and function, each patient I see reinforces my passion for dentistry. I absolutely love changing the lives of my patients through dentistry - it makes me smile!
There are so many aspects of health and wellness that begin with the mouth, and any time I can see a small problem and fix it before it becomes a big problem, I consider it a personal victory. I hope that every tooth and smile I fix helps keep each patient healthier and happier.
Education and My
Continuing Education
I have wanted to be a dentist since the age of four. Helping people has always been part of who I am. I planned my education with dentistry in mind until I was in college. Then, I started working in a dental office to gain first-hand experience of what it was like to be a dentist and quickly realized that I was on the right career track and continued full speed ahead!
A graduate of the Alcona Community School System, I stayed in northern Michigan and attended Alpena Community College and the University of Michigan for my undergraduate education. I completed my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry in 1995.
As a dentist committed to learning, I stay up-to-date on the latest technology through a variety of continuing education opportunities. I enjoy interacting with my peers and taking part in discussions regarding treatment methodologies, in addition to absorbing the wealth of information available in dental journals and online webinars. Every bit of knowledge I acquire allows me to improve the care that we offer to our patients.

Family and Community
I grew up on on a family farm on Spruce Road in Spruce, MI, a small town in northeastern Michigan, and the inspiration for the name Blue Spruce Dental. I now reside in Napoleon, MI with my wife, Jennifer. She is my rock and works hard for our family, as well as the business. We have two children, Ryan and AnnaMarie who are both attending Central Michigan University. Our family is complete with our Beagles Opal and Ruby, three cats named Stella, Nike, and Gabby, and lots of backyard wildlife that is always trying to eat our garden.
When I am not working, I love to spend time with my family. Our favorite way to relax is to go camping. We have many favorite destinations including Gulf Shores, Alabama and Rocky Mountain National Park, to Lake Michigan Beaches and Northern Michigan. We love to hike with our Beagles and enjoy biking when we are camping. I know I have had a really nice getaway when I can get lost in a good book - especially around an all day campfire - that is the best! .
Even though my wife and I are not musically gifted, we have enjoyed the musical talents of our kids though their time at Napoleon Schools and now both our members of the CMU Marching Band. If there is a home football game, we will be in Mt. Pleasant, MI cheering on our Chips on the field! Fire Up Chips!
Over the years, I have been involved in many community groups from Boy/Girl Scouts of America, the Jackson Food Pantry, High School Band Boosters and various projects involving our church and school district. As a small business owner, it brings me joy to sponsor our local youth baseball, softball and basketball teams and other neighborhood fundraisers. I loved growing up in a small town and being a Dentist in a small town community gives me the opportunity to give back to others.
I am truly blessed to live and work in such a wonderful community. I enjoy getting to know my patients and their families, and I try every day to make a difference in my patients' lives. I extend a very warm welcome to Blue Spruce Dental and look forward to you meeting our Dental Team and having you become a member of our Dental Family.
